Welcome to Moorabbin City Soccer Club History

Image
This site has been created to maintain the memory of the Moorabbin City Soccer Club. The CLUB HISTORY page contains an overall summary of the club's history since the foundation in 1949.  It contains the known records of the senior, reserve, thirds and colts teams from 1950-2002. They can be found in the SEASONS section. Many seasons results and details are incomplete, if you have any additional information, please get in touch. Research to complete the records is ongoing. Clicking on a yearbook or match programme cover will give you access to the full publication, which can also be downloaded to keep. There are also a few games which have some video footage available. The HONOURS page lists the successes of the club's teams in league and cup competitions. Inside the AWARD WINNERS page are further pages detailing known winners of Best & Fairest, Player's Player of the Year, Top Goalscorers and Coach's Award winners of the club's various teams, as well as a l...

1974 Match Reports by Steve Gregory

He was also first team top goal scorer on at least eight occasions , as well a having been made a Life Member. He'd brought an exercise book of match reports he'd compiled for the 1974 season, the year of his first Best and Fairest win. He allowed me to borrow it for half and hour to take the photographs to make the following reproduction of the book (click on image for the PDF):   If only more of these had been made, or more tellingly, survived, the football statisticians and historians of Victoria would have a far easier task. Documents like these, apart from showing the love of the game and dedication to it, can spark memories that may otherwise become forgotten. Thanks Steve for sharing, and being the true club great...

Ian Rigg Collection Updates

Image
Last week I visited former player/committeeman/President Ian Rigg, after he had recently met up with Tony Morgan. Ian has kindly supplied me with some materials to add to the archives on this website.   They include a missing Matchday from 1983 v Geelong. I've also added an issue of Bulletin Board from 1977 (No.2) to the Library page. Added to the team photo galleries are:   The following team photos need a bit more identification for labeling: Seniors 1978 (has 1978 written on it but we already have 1978 team photos in a different kit so it may be 1979) Guesses so far, please get in touch if you have answers: Back: Peter Fairbanks?, Mark Watling, Keith Watling, Steve Thomas, Tony Wynton, ???, ??? Front: Donovan De Cerff?, John Bris, Colman Kelly, Steve Gregory, Claude Senese, John Tsagadouris Reserves June 1978, according to note in pencil on the back of the card containing the photo.
